Why everyone should own a Nintendo Switch
I thought I’d take a break from my Nintendo Switch last night and play some Final Fantasy XV on my PS4. It’s my first Final Fantasy game and so far I’m having a great time with it. A few months ago I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed it at all. Final Fantasy XV features long sections of driving, these previously would have put me off. This has changed now as last night whilst watching Noctis and his friends drive I grabbed my Nintendo Switch and played some Zelda Breath of the Wild.
Playing two games at once may sound excessive but the Nintendo Switch is so achingly easy to pick up and play I keep reaching for it. Lengthy loading screens on other systems lead to a quick game of Puyo Puyo Tetris. I look forward to long journeys to settle into some Thumper or Tumbleseed. The quick pop up competitions that were shown off in the initial Switch reveal trailer are actually happening!
Previously quick little random snippets of time would be filled with some mindless scanning of social media feeds on my mobile. This time now feels better spent playing on the Switch than on Reddit or Twitter or Facebook. Time spent on social media generally has a negative affect on our well being, time playing games however improves it.
The amount of gaming time now easily within reach with a Nintendo Switch is incredible. The Nintendo Switch switches on and can be played within seconds. The variety and quality of the games available is impressive and looks set to exponentially grow if Switch sales continue to impress.
Who is the Nintendo Switch for?
One of the most impressive features of the Switch is the wide appeal it offers to so many different audiences. The hardcore gamers it offers incredible games such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2 and Zelda: Breath of the Wild. For long gaming sessions you can enjoy titles such as Disgaea 5, Zelda and Minecraft. For quick grabs for gaming time Puyo Puyo Tetris, Tumbleseed and Thumper. Competitive players will enjoy Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, ARMS and NBA Playgrounds. Cooperative fans will love Snipperclips and Splatoon 2’s new wave based modes. Families can enjoy incredible social experience including 1-2-Switch to get non gamers involved. Already it really does have something for everyone.
If you already own a PS4, Xbox One or PC it definitely is worth considering a Nintendo Switch as a second system. It is an incredible console in its own right. If you add to that the ability to play it in handheld mode not just on the road but at home too it offers an incredible amount of gameplay.
Why write an article trying to encourage others to buy a Nintendo Switch?
Tweets wishing certain games would be announced for the Switch litter Twitter. This includes both old and new games. Those of us who own a Nintendo Switch can’t help but feel that every other game that we play would be better on the Switch. Why? Because of the options that the Switch affords us. Playing at home of the TV is awesome. Playing in the lounge whilst watching the TV is stunning. Lying in bed and taking on racers from around the world is great. Playing on the train makes the commute fun. Simply put every game should be on the Nintendo Switch. The play options it offers makes every game better without actually changing them.
As more Nintendo Switches sell the more publishers will consider bringing their games to the system. If you want to continue to see more games come to the Switch do what you can to encourage others to buy one.
What games would you like to see come to the Switch? Have you found yourself playing the Switch whilst playing other games? Who do you think the Nintendo Switch is for?
